Let me tell you a story...

Once upon a time, long long ago, some people from some of the churches around Dorking got together and decided that it would be a good idea to work together to run something that could help young people from across the area to explore what it was they believed. And thus, Youth Alpha came to be...

Actually thats not true - Youth Alpha has been around for a good many years as a cheeky little cousin of the adult Alpha course. Its been used in all kinds of situations, in all kinds of countries, by all kinds of people - and we use it here because we think its a fun and accessible way to share what Christians believe in.

 So what is Youth Alpha?

Youth Alpha is essentially a fun and informal way to explore some of the claims the church makes about Jesus and what he claims about himself. Its geared for teenagers and designed to be an open and un-intimidating opportunity to explore in a relaxed way some of the claims that christians make. Over the course we ask questions like, Who is Jesus? Why and how should I pray? How can I live free? What about the church? among others.

Key Features

• Important to any youth event is food - and Youth Alpha is no different, so each week we provide plenty of snacks and refreshments!

• We love having fun - so we make sure that a key part of any Youth Alpha session is space to have a laugh and some good fun through games and other silly activities.

• Each week we will have a short talk about that weeks question (and we do promise that it will be short!) using all sorts of video clips and multimedia.

• Each week we get into small groups for a no-holds barred discussion about what we've just heard. Whether you agree, disagree, or have questions that are still unanswered there is space for everyone to share their opinions and thoughts...

• Did we mention fun and food as well? probably worth mentioning twice...

So what...

Well, if this sounds good to you, the good news is that we're running a course starting in January 2012 for anyone in school year 7 and up.
